Tiago Finato was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil in 1982.
Always sketching and drawing as a young boy his life was guided by chance when on an outing with his Aunt they came upon a Portrait Artist painting in a local plaza. Fascinated he watched the artist for over an hour as he captured his customers likeness with uncanny accuracy. Shorty after this at the young age of 12 Tiago's parents enrolled him at the prestigious Eteuvina Ramos Viana Art School in Sao Jose' do Rio Preto, Brazil. There he sold his first painting, had his first solo show and the following year was promoted to assistant instructor. By 1997 Tiago had painted commissioned portraits of a local school's academic masters, a portrait of Brazilian tennis star Gustavo Kuerten and started teaching his own portrait classes at the Eteuvina Ramos Viana Art School where he had first studied. In 2000 Tiago moved to the United States to continue exploring the art world and establish himself. During this time he painted commissioned portraits, conducted classes at a local artist workshop, as well as private lessons with live models, all the time working at improving his painting skills and techniques. He has exhibited his art in many local galleries and national juried exhibits winning awards and recognition along the way. Now considered one of the premier portrait artists in the New England area, Tiago's last commissioned portrait was that of the new Mayor of Fall River, Massachusetts William A. Flanagan, which is on permanent display at the Fall River Government Center. Contact Tiago Finato by email at tiagofinato01_gmail.com or by telephone at 774.6446701.
