My name is Tiago Finato and I am a professional artist specializing in oil painting and pencil drawing. Art has been my passion from childhood when I first realized that is what I was born to do.
After working in a variety of art forms, I realized that my greatest satisfaction came from portraiture. Portraiture allows me to concentrate on and refine skills required to capture the essence of my subjects. Several of my paintings are classical in composition and lighting. In these oil paintings I have recreated the dramatic chiaroscuro, an Italian word, roughly meaning light and dark. When the focus of a painting is the form of objects, chiaroscuro can be helpful in visually describing three dimensional space. Strong directional light will explore the details and features of the subject.
Other examples of my work are commissioned portraits. Working from a combination of photography and life drawing I create portraits in oil that are life time treasures. Another technique is portraiture in pencil. The pleasure I experience when clients see their completed portraits is one of the greatest joys of my life.
My painting studio is located at the Greater Fall River Art Association, 80 Belmont St., Fall River, MA 02720. I am privileged to be part of the Greater Fall River Art Association, an Artist in Residence & newly elected President.
